DESCRIPTION: Title I Parent and Family Engagement Paraprofessional - Interviews on going 

Qualifications:  

 1. Have 60 College Credit Hours (TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED, UNOFFICIAL ACCEPTED) or
 2. Have completed two years (60 semester hours) of college coursework from an accredited institution, or
 3. Have passed a state-approved examination of content knowledge and pedagogy (Testing Location Ola Copeland Learning Center)

GENERAL SUMMARY 

 

The Title I Parent and Family Engagement Assistant reports to the School Principal and is responsible for providing assistance and guidance for parent and family engagement activities on Title I school campuses. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

 

  • Works under the direct supervision of the school Principal and/or administrative team;
  • Provides technical assistance to Principal and administrative staff on compliance issues related to parental involvement;
  • Provides technical assistance on strategies to assist parents in helping students achieve academically:
  • Assists school administration with the development and implementation of parent compacts and Title I activities:
  • Assists administration with the development of parent and family engagement tools including newsletters, websites, social media etc:
  • Assists in the coordination of parent development activities as directed by the school administration;
  • Maintains professional decorum and behaviors as a representative of the school; 
  • Attends staff meetings as required; participates in-service training programs; 
  • Keeps abreast of developments in early childhood/elementary education/secondary curriculum and instruction;
  • Prepares special reports as requested by the Principal and/or School Administration. 

Assumes limited duties that are assigned to other assistants__including non-instructional duties and duties that do not benefit participating students__if the amount of time spent on those duties is the same proportion of total work time as the time spent by other assistants at the school; and 

Performs other related duties as required. 

 

 

Knowledge: 

Job requires knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation; working knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, and operations; general knowledge of modern office equipment such as copiers and computers; and knowledge of child growth and development. 

 

Skills/Effort: 

Job requires good rapport with all stakeholders including children, classroom teachers, school administration and community; good written and verbal communication, organization, basic mathematical, and telephone skills; ability to interact with co-workers, students and school staff in a courteous and professional manner; demonstrates initiative and ability to regularly, reliably and predictably at work.

 

Working Conditions: 

Working conditions are in a school environment as determined by school administration and in any other school or community settings as needed. Physical demands include lifting/moving/ up to 35 lbs. Job requires working directly with students and adults. The direct supervision of students to ensure their safety at all times is a top priority. Cherokee County School District is a smoke free district.

 

Responsibility: 

No budgetary or supervisory responsibility 

Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families at all times 

Pertinent information is to be conveyed to parents or other parties only at the request of the supervising Principal or administrative staff
