Job Title: AVID District Coach
Reporting to: Executive Director of Academics
Location: District Office, Department of Curriculum and Instruction
Contract: 190 day Teacher Contract
Qualifications:
A valid SC teaching certificate.
A bachelor's degree; Master's degree preferred.
A minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience. Experience as an AVID elective teacher is preferred.
Experience with evaluating program effectiveness.
Successful experience in leadership activities at the school and or district level.
A solid knowledge of AVID.
Essential job functions:
1) As the AVID District Coach, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the implementation of AVID program components and developing site conditions that effectively support instruction, programs, and activities related to AVID at elementary and secondary schools.
2) Supervise and coordinate efforts for AVID Early College with Spartanburg Community College.
3) Fulfills AVID District Coach duties as defined by AVID Center and Executive Director of Academics.
4) Meets with Principals to promote administrative support for and involvement in AVID.
5) Verifies documentation and evidence with schools and uses the AVID Coaching and Certification Instrument (CCI) to help schools ensure fidelity to the AVID systems and grow AVID District-wide.
6) Develop and monitor the AVID budget.
7) Respond to inquiries regarding AVID program dissemination by providing information sessions and program publicity.
8) Coordinates open communication and collaboration with AVID Center regarding contracts for consultant services, technical assistance, and the AVID certification process.
9) Fosters relationships with postsecondary institutions for student outreach and support.
10) Coordinates and verifies the data collection process as guided by the AVID Center.
11) Attends regional, state, national, and district Director meetings.
12) Observe AVID classrooms and provide feedback and coaching to AVID teachers.
13) Observe content area teachers trained in AVID strategies to provide feedback to campuses regarding implementation.
14) Supports campus principals as they work to implement the AVID College Readiness System on their campuses.
15) Provides support for recruitment, retention, and transition of AVID students.
16) Coordinates the collection and submission of data for AVID.
17) Other duties as assigned.
