MTSS Coordinator

 

Job Summary

Position is responsible for coaching, supporting, and guiding administrators, academic coaches, guidance counselors, and teachers in best practices in the Multi-Tier System of Support. This position coordinates the district’s MTSS plan, plans with administrative teams, coaches, teachers, models lessons, co-teaches, collaboratively plans, provides feedback to administrators, teachers, and conducts professional development.

 

Essential Functions
The following duties are representative of this position. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned by the Executive Director and/or Superintendent.

  1. Supports the district’s Multi-Tier System of Support plan within each school building.
  2. Coordinates with other departments for the procurement of intervention resources.
  3. Creates a pedagogical cultural shift away from RtI and towards MTSS.
  4. Creates documentation for student intervention.
  5. Participates and observes the planning process and the instruction that follows and provides supportive and specific feedback and suggestions.
  6. Collaborates regularly with Instructional administration and the Executive Director of Academics to address areas of greatest need.
  7. Analyzes data to determine benchmarks, establish goals, and monitor improvement in identified classes and develops concrete steps within the school, content area, or classroom to address identified needs.
  8. Assists teachers in analyzing data to guide instruction and plan targeted interventions.
  9. Monitor consistent and effective goals and interventions within student plans for MTSS/RtI.
  10. Assists Administration in developing and implementing remediation plans, as necessary.
  11. Assists curriculum-writing teams in the revision and development of curriculum and assessments.
  12. Attends and participates in professional development to improve and maintain knowledge of content, instructional strategies, coaching skills, and adult learning theory.
  13. Develops and conducts professional development for teachers regarding instructional strategies, best practices, and specific instructional topics at school and district level.
  14. Keeps detailed records related to all aspects of the position including a coaching log to include dates, times, and locations.

 

Qualifications:  

 

1.  At Least Five Years of Successful Teaching and/or Administrative Experience
2.  Masters Degree in Education from an Accredited University
3.  Valid South Carolina Educator's Credential

Salary:  To be determined by Admin Scale
